A labyrinth is not a maze
A labyrinth is sometimes confused with a maze, but they are really opposites.
Mazes are made to trick the mind with blind alleys and wrong choices. A labyrinth does have twists and turns, but the path is guided. There are no wrong choices. A maze is a puzzle. It is a left-brained task requiring logical and analytical thinking to find your way out. There is no problem to solve in a labyrinth. It is a single path from outside the circle, into the center, and out again. Walking a labyrinth is a right-brained activity that allows you to develop a relaxed, meditative state of mind, and you have your own choice of what to meditate about. It is a metaphor for the journey into your deepest self and out again with a better understanding of yourself.
